The service allowed customers of the Smart Receipt System (Tahseel) developed by the Sharjah Finance Department, to direct debit from their bank account, recharge their E-wallet with a balance credited from their bank accounts and to pay their transaction fees in "Tahseel" system.

His Excellency Walid Al Sayegh, Director General of the Sharjah Finance Department, emphasised that the launch of the service, offered in cooperation with the UAE Central Bank and under the supervision of the Sharjah Islamic Bank was based on the vision of the Government of Sharjah, which is working towards implementing the best practices to facilitate the process for their customers. It also falls within the framework of strengthening cooperation and relationships among the departments of Sharjah government that is shifting towards establishing E-Systems within a smart government.

Al-Sayegh pointed out that the Government of Sharjah was the first government in the local and regional levels to use the ID card to pay and collect government fees for local departments and authorities. Recently, the Government of Sharjah has expanded the options available to pay these fees in order to provide customers with excellent E-services and to facilitate smart collection process, taking into consideration the accuracy and safety rules necessary for similar operations.

Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department, emphasised that the Smart Receipt System (Tahseel) reduced the effort and time of the customers, avoided human errors and averted problems of multiplied cash payment. Tahseel also included many advantages and the direct debit system will add value to them. This will increase the number of users of the system, and provide more ease and security for all customers.

The direct debit system is an innovative means to pay government and semi-government transactions fees in a safe and easy way, through direct debit from the bank account of customers to the account of "Tahseel" which is accredited by the Sharjah Finance Department. The service is distinguished for being safe, and saves time and effort eliminating the need to wait in long queues at the bank, exchange centers or at recharging stations. It also significantly reduces costs for either the customer or the payment party, as there is no activating charges for the direct debit service for the customers of Smart Receipt - Tahseel. The vision of the Sharjah Finance Department is seeking to reach a financial leadership towards Globalization by developing innovative technologies for financial stability and sustainability, based on three key strategic directions: financial stability and sustainability, innovative financial services, and stimulating domestic environment.
