Sharjah Finance Department launches innovative systems to make transactions easier for customers

The Digital Ticket System Allows Users to Get Tourist Attractions Tickets Easily and Quickly

Sharjah Finance Department (SFD) will participate at the GITEX Technology Week 2019, to be held from 6 to 10 October, 2019, in Dubai World Trade Centre. Their goal is to strengthen financial leadership through the development of innovative technologies that will help achieve financial stability and sustainability.

SFD launched a number of innovative systems at the Sharjah Pavilion during the exhibition including the Smile-to-Pay system, which uses the latest identification technology to increase the security of the smart receipt system (Tahseel). The process involves identifying and verifying the identity of the holder of the (Tahseel) account by face recognition then providing them with access to the system, this in addition to the usual code or password required to be entered.

This system, will be provided through the phone application initially and then be available through the self-service device (a later stage), which will verify the account holder's face digitally while adding a smile effect on the face to avoid using a static image of the customer to bypass the verification process.

As for “Ask Takamul," is a digital mechanism for effective communication between users of the government e-financial system “Takamul" and the stakeholders at the Sharjah Finance Department. It was launched by the department to achieve the principles of sustainable communication in accordance with its strategic plan. The artificial intelligence was also used in “Ask Takamul," allowing the system to automatically reply to public inquiries of government entities through the “Chat Bot" technology. Thus it becomes the first department ever to use artificial intelligence in communication mechanisms in its financial resources system.

During the exhibition, SFD also launched 'Digital Ticket System', which allows customers of the Smart Receipt System 'Tahseel', also developed by the Department to book tickets for tourist attractions and sites across the emirate. Through Tahseel platforms, tickets can be booked individually or as a group on a daily, monthly or annual basis providing access to attend a specific event, or even to visit more than one tourist attraction (Oasis Ticket for several destinations.) The ticket can be purchased for personal use or to present as a gift, after paying through the available payment methods in the system.

Digital Tickets Project allows users to book their ticket via mobile phones, tablets or desktops, with the option of providing recommendations and geographical directions to Sharjah tourist attractions. It provides the possibility to share tickets via social media that can be used by different people.

This system complies with the highest standard of technology for user data protection, increasing the speed and making it user friendly, and is compatible with the mobile fingerprint feature to accelerate access to the system which is developed by the staff of SFD as part of its efforts to enhance the Smart Services System in the Emirate.

Huda Al Yasi, Director of Financial System Department at SFD, said “We are always working towards developing technologies to provide innovative services with high degree of accuracy and ability to meet the needs of customers. We are committed to providing exceptional quality services while improving and developing our procedures around the clock, as part of the vision of the emirate which is committed to excelling in the field of Smart Services in the Region."

She added: GITEX Technology Week is the most well-known regional platform for introducing advanced technology services and systems, especially in the financial sector. SFD wants to use this opportunity to showcase innovative technologies that achieve financial stability and sustainability based on three key strategic directions: financial stability and sustainability, innovative financial services, and a stimulating internal environment.

SFD works on achieving a number of strategic objectives including provision of a performance balance system, implementation of integrated and effective financial policies, building a global model in public finance, enabling smart transformation and implementation of seven-star services. This is addition to enhancing the internal control system, enabling national human resources, and developing the culture of excellence, innovation and management of institutional performance.
